Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Rumored to Feature Multiple DLC Character Packs in a Year

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is said to be using a very different post-release content plan when compared with Street Fighter V. Where the latter releases a single character after every three months or so, the former will feature entire characters packs for the same period.

A thread on Reddit from the past week goes into great detail about what we should be expecting. There is no way of ascertaining the credibility of the poster but it does offer something to speculate on until the developer provides official information.

To clarify once again, Street Fighter V features a seasonal content pack for a single year but Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is rumored to feature multiple seasonal packs for the same period. In that light, the first couple of seasons are said to delve into the much-requested characters of the Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises.

“Fantastic Four vs Darkstalkers” is said to be an eight-character pack that will feature Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, Super-Skrull, Felicia and Talbain to name a few. “X-Men vs Street Fighter” will supposedly feature fewer characters, adding the likes of Wolverine, Cyclops, and Deadpool to the roster.

The characters so far confirmed to accompany the release of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite are all that come directly under the corporate umbrella of Marvel Studios. This meant the disregard of many fan-favorite characters from other universes. It was assumed that Capcom is bound by a contractual agreement to only include characters from franchises that Marvel has cinematic rights to. However, this was pointed out to be false last month.

Provided that the rumors are legitimate, the fighting game community should be very happy to know that Capcom has not scrapped the inclusion of popular characters from other franchises like Fantastic Four and X-Men

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is scheduled to release on September 19 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It hopes to sell at least two million units worldwide.
