If you were wondering what Rocksteady is doing post-Arkham Knight, well, we may just have an answer. A new leak mentions that Rocksteady is working on a new Superman game. One wonders how they are going to balance gameplay but according to the leak, it is a nerfed Superman.
The leak comes from 4Chan which isn’t the most reliable source but the person posting this shared plenty of correct details about Final Fantasy XV. The new Superman game is going to be set in the Arkhamverse and we think that the game is going to be set right after the events of Arkham Knight.
The game is being developed on the Unreal Engine 4 and is set in Metropolis. The city is three times bigger than Arkham Knight’s Gotham with plenty of more buildings.
The story will jump between Superman and Clark Kent. Similar to Batman games where players can’t play as Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent won’t be a playable character in the new Superman game. There are plenty of smaller villains but the lead antagonist is going to be none-other than Brainiac.
There are no destructible environments for the most part. The game does feature many easter eggs for Superman’s lore and mentions of the events that took place in Gotham. It seems that Superman’s story is running parallel to Batman’s.
That is pretty much it for now but if the title is actually under development right now we can expect a showing at E3 2018.
Over the past few years, there were many rumors regarding a new Superman game coming out. In fact, a Superman game was in development at the now-defunct Factor 5, the creator of Rogue Squadron series of Star Wars games.
The main problem with Superman game is the near-impossible task of balancing gameplay. Superman is one of the most powerful DC characters if not the most powerful.
