Tekken 7 is slowly getting closer to its release date onto consoles, and Bandai Namco is only increasing the hype with a new poll. The poll asks fans what sort of Tekken 7 guest character they would want to be added into the game through DLC, and fans have given their answer.
That answer is to add in Kazuma Kiryu, the perpetually stern Japanese martial artist from the Yakuza series, who recently starred in Yakuza 0. That game released back in 2015 but only recently got a Western release, and with how popular the Yakuza series is, he may be getting into Tekken sooner or later.
Kiryu is probably one of the most-recognized fighters from a number of Japanese RPG games. Capable of switching between a number of different styles, and having taken down hordes of delinquents and ne’er-do-wells over the course of six games, Kiryu can take and give a whole lot of punishment.
Kiryu would only be one Tekken 7 guest character, though. The game will already have Street Fighter’s Akuma included in its roster, and other popular guest characters that the poll revealed were Geese Howard from Fatal Fury, and Dante from Devil May Cry.
With Tekken being all about various martial artists coming together, whether it’s Kiryu, Akuma, Geese, or Dante, there’s never going to be a dull moment when Tekken 7 releases.
Interestingly enough, the most popular guest fighters are all characters from other fighting games, rather than other characters like Master Chief from Halo, or Sarah Kerrigan from Starcraft, or Sub Zero from Mortal Kombat.
None of the Tekken 7 guest character ideas are even anything as outlandish as what’s already in Tekken; whether it’s a luchador wearing a jaguar mask, a pair of robots, a panda and a grizzly bear, or even an immortal vampire, there’s nothing that a guest character could be that will be out of place.
Tekken 7 will be releasing on Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC, and arcades on June 2.
