Intel is planning to expand new models to Skull Canyon line of performance based NUC compact desktops; with Intel Coffee Lake processors. Intel first launched its Skull Canyon NUC mini PC last year. The impressive hardware boasted a 6th Gen Core i7-6770HQ, M.2 support, and DDR4 RAM of up to 32GB.
Now, the company is launching a new series of Skull Canyon NUCs, featuring its new 8th Gen Coffee Lake CPUs. Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) is a powerful four-by-four inch mini PC with a customizable board that accepts a wide variety of memory, storage, and operating systems.
The new Skull Canyon NUCs will feature Intel Coffee Lake U, Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors. But don’t expect these processors to be released anywhere before Q2 2018. These are 28W chips will incorporate four cores and 8 threads in all three tiers of the CPUs.
One of these could even feature a large onboard graphics core cushioned by on-package eDRAM L4 cache. This will ensure faster data transmission because of registry cache. Intel Coffee Lake Skull Canyon NUC is one of those products that are very small in size but pack a good amount of performance while keeping power consumption under the limit.
These smart sized desktops are easily portable and are a viable solution for small to medium scale businesses. It was also noted that there will not be any Kaby Lake Refresh for the Skull Canyon NUCs. These small PCs are very resourceful for small offices where space is an issue. Since the standard desktop machines take a larger amount of space.
NUC can best be described as a barebone, small form factor PC. They’re pretty small, about the size of an external hard drive, although some are even smaller. Despite their size, they still pack as much power as a regular desktop.
Intel Coffee Lake will prove a resourceful upgrade as a successor to the Skull Canyon line of NUCs. But be sure correct us if you believe otherwise.
