Spiderman PS4 creator Insomniac Games has hinted at the possibility of more Spiderman games. Speaking with IGN, Insomniac’s Ted Price spoke about Spiderman PS4 and “Sony, Marvel, Insomniac triangle” is amazing and they would love to hear what fans liked and disliked about Spiderman PS4, hinting they can use the feedback to work on a new game.
Marvel is already on board with the idea and would love to create more games with Sony and Insomniac. In the previous statement, Jay Ong, Marvel’s Vice President of Games that the future of Spiderman console games is with Sony and Insomniac, shutting down any possibility of a partnership with Activision.
We’ve had a long history of success with Activision, and we still have a great relationship with them. But the future of the Spider-Man console games is with Sony and Insomniac. We’re delighted about this partnership, and that’s something that’s going to continue forward. With [regard to] other console partners, stay tuned. There’s many more interesting additional things to come. But Activision is in the past, with regards to Spider-Man.
The partnership turned out to be the right decision by Marvel as Spiderman PS4 has become the fastest selling video games of the year. It is a critically acclaimed entry into the long line of mediocre Spiderman games by various developers and publishers. Fans around the world are enjoying their time in New York with Spiderman and it is safe to say we would love more Spiderman games.
But what’s even more interesting is that Marvel could be planning to create a video game based Marvel Universe and Spiderman could be the beginning of it. Similar to how Iron Man laid the foundation of the MCU, Spiderman PS4 could play the same role in video games. Marvel is open to the idea for sure.
