Many of us have complained that Microsoft lacks first-party studios and titles. Well, Microsoft has listened to its fans and have announced a new first-party studio, The Initiative, and have also acquired big-name studios like Ninja Theory, Playground Games, Undead Labs and more as its very own first-party studios.
While Phil Spencer didn’t announce the game which The Initiative is working on but revealed that Xbox has acquired a slew of studios as its first-party studios to create exclusive titles for Xbox One. The Following are the Studios that Microsoft has acquired as its first-party studios:
- Undead Labs
- Playground Games
- Ninja Theory
- Compulsion Games
For those who don’t know, Undead Labs is the studio behind recently released State of Decay 2. Ninja Theory is the studio behind games such as Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice and Heavenly Sword.
Playground Games has already been developing first-party titles for the Xbox One like Forza Horizon series and Compulsion Games is the developer behind the upcoming We Happy Few.
Microsoft didn’t specify what game The Initiative will be working on, however, the way Phil Spencer described it, it seems that the studio is working on a single-player title with a tight focus on the story.
