There was a new trailer released for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom during the broadcast of Super Bowl LII this weekend to bring attention on yet another monstrous creation born from a petri dish.
The Indominus Rex was the first and new hybrid dinosaur introduced in the first movie, genetically engineered by combining the DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) of various extinct and modern-day creatures. The goal was to create a living weapon for the military as well as a new attraction for the audience in order to keep the fictional Isla Nublar theme park running.
However, the disastrous events that led to everyone evacuating the island has not deterred the mad scientists from going back to work. The new hybrid dinosaur for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom appears to be a cross between the Indominus Rex and Velociraptor–two genuinely fearsome dinosaurs with great intelligence, strength, and agility.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, directed by J.A. Bayona, is set four years after the events of the first movie. It will see Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) returning to the island to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from an upcoming volcanic eruption. The military, though, will be still pursuing its dreams of weaponizing the project with another new hybrid dinosaur running amok the jungles.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 22, 2018. The sequel will arrive three years after the first movie, directed by Colin Trevorrow, was released–earning more than $1.6 billion in the box office.
