Halo is one of the most popular Xbox exclusives and next entry in the franchise, Halo Wars 2, is just over a month away from launch. With the launch of Xbox One S, many developers have implemented HDR to their games but it seems that Halo Wars 2 will be skipping on this feature.
Speaking with Fenix Bazaar, 343 Industries design director, Clay Jensen confirmed that Halo Wars 2 will not be supporting HDR on Xbox One S.
Wish that I could say yes. Unfortunately, we are not going to have HDR support for Halo Wars 2. We do support 4K on PC, which looks gorgeous, and you definitely need to play that because it’s stunning.
He further added that the studio intends to take advantage of the HDR in the future titles but for Halo Wars 2 it will never happen.
343 Industries is packed with future projects and not to mention supporting the Halo 5 Guardians on Xbox One with new events and DLCs. One would assume that developing Halo Wars 2 for PC and Xbox One must be very difficult for the studio.
However, according to Executive Producer David Nicholson, Halo Wars 2 development for both platforms is going smoothly and they had a fantastic foundation in the form of the original game.
Our thought started with basically that we just have to make the best RTS game that we could,” he said, “so we had a fantastic foundation with the original Halo Wars [and] we wanted to build upon that, address the things that players loved and some of the feedback they gave us not only through the original Halo Wars but also through the beta, and we wanted to make sure that the core RTS gameplay was very solid, and I think that works on any platform.
Halo Wars 2 is an RTS game in development at 343 Industries and is scheduled to launch on February 21, 2017, for PC and Xbox One.
