Halo 3 Anniversary Leaked Footage Fuels Speculation

A Reddit post that shows us a very interesting video might have just shown us Halo 3 Anniversary leaked footage. While the “leaked footage” in question is just a title screen, the possibility of it being real brings up the possibility of yet another current-gen remaster of a Halo game, similar to the Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 Anniversary games.

The Halo Master Chief Collection included all four Halo games before the release of Halo 5: Guardians, and despite including remastered versions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, Halo 3 was simply a port from Xbox 360 to Xbox One with mildly updated graphics.

The Halo 3 Anniversary leaked footage could mean that we’ll be getting another anniversary edition of a Halo game, this time in Halo 3.

A Halo 3 Anniversary Edition like that of Halo 2 would mean that we would be getting Blur cutscenes, updated graphics and lighting, and a generally better-looking game all around. Halo 3 had very good, very shiny graphics when it released.

A remastered game could be 343’s chance to add yet another remastered game to the Halo canon, and add even more hidden terminal videos like what was in Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, and Halo 4.

However, there’s still the possibility that the Halo 3 Anniversary leaked footage is a complete fake. The fact that it’s blurry and indistinct is a mark against it. Not to mention the lack of an acknowledgement from Microsoft. But, there’s also the possibility that Microsoft is waiting to announce it at its E3 conference next week.

Normally, Halo anniversary games have come out on the ten-year anniversary of their original release, so if Halo 3 Anniversary is announced at E3 we might see it it coming out sometime next year.

All the same we won’t know anything until we’re watching the Microsoft conference at E3. While Halo 3 Anniversary would be a very welcome sight, hopefully it will remain immune from the multiplayer fiasco that came with The Master Chief Collection.
