Half Life 3 references are found in many places, to the point that gamers feel trolled. The latest place for them to appear is in the Steam VR Performance Tool files.
These references are being reported on the Facepunch forum and apparently are strings that make mention of Half Life 3:

Make of them what you will, though the fact is these files could be anything. They can even be placed there just to try to get games excited once again for a chance the game is in development.
While this could be true, at this point it is all once again pure speculation and based on shaky facts. The only way we’ll truly have proof of a Half Life 3 game is in development is for Valve to finally reveal it. Until then we’ll just have more references like this found, when in fact they can be just coding conventions used for the company.
Will Half Life 3 make it into the world of Virtual Reality? Of course it could, most fans (including me) would love to see it happen. At this point though we’ll probably have more of a chance of seeing a VR “Episode” and not a full Half Life 3 game. I would love to be proved wrong though.
What are your thoughts on yet more Half Life 3 references, are Valve just having more fun at the gamer’s expense? Let us know in the comments section below.
