It has been three years since the release of GTA V – ample time for fans to ponder over what they want to see in inevitable GTA 6. For the past year, we have been hearing rumors regarding the game’s potential setting, inclusion of a female protagonist, world size, amidst many others.
Although Rockstar Games has yet to comment on the matter, the studio has confirmed that development of GTA 6 is in full-swing. However, since the game is still early in development, there is no point in expecting it to release within a year or two.
A quick glance at Take-Two’s recent earning reports confirm no titles from Rockstar Games. Moreover, judging by the release pattern of earlier GTA games, GTA 6 should arrive sometime near 2019/2020.
Moreover, Rockstar’s ex-President Leslie Benzies also confirmed that GTA 6 is still in early stages of development. Although the studio has some ideas regarding the game’s setting, story, the current focus is on GTA V and GTA Online.
We don’t know what GTA 6 will be, but we’ve got some ideas.
It comes from the idea first. Where it is going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you’re doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the mission in.
Once again, it is too early to speculate anything related to gameplay mechanics and storyline. The latest rumor on setting, however, suggests that GTA 6 might include San Fierro and Las Venturas – two places which will excluded from GTA V because of hardware limitations of consoles. Furthermore, it is also in the wind that Rockstar Games might return to Vice City with the untitled iteration.
Whatever the case be, Rockstar Games never cease to inspire and surprise us, especially when it comes to Grand Theft Auto. Hopefully, we will get an announcement related to another Red Dead game soon to keep fans a little occupied for the time being.
