God Of War will launch sometime in 2018 and fans are already excited about the game. In previous installments Kratos has always been alone in his quest for revenge against Gods but, in the upcoming God Of War PS4, he will be joined by his son who will be a competent companion to him.
Speaking with Gamasutra, Sony Santa Monica Studio’s engineering lead Jeet Shroff talked more about Kratos’ son and how he will be helpful not only in the game’s narrative but, will also help out in gameplay too. According to Jeet, Atreus is an extension to player’s arsenal in combat.
Atreus aids his father in many ways throughout the entire journey. To reinforce this theme, we didn’t shy away from limiting their relationship to just narrative. In gameplay, Atreus plays a key role in autonomously aiding and complementing Kratos while navigating through this foreign land as well as being an extension to his arsenal in combat.
While God Of War is not even out yet but, director Cory Barlog has already planned multiple sequels after this. He added that his plans for the story go well beyond the game and the game is pretty much building towards to what he has planned.
I will say that when I chose this story, I had chosen it because I already outlined and mapped out stories for multiple games.
I have an ark in my head that goes well beyond this game and everything that we are doing in God of War, to me, is very much building towards that.
Also, God Of War principal programmer Florian Strauss has revealed that the game will push PS4 to its limits for its physical based rendering.
God Of War is an upcoming action-adventure game in development at Sony Santa Monica Studio and will launch exclusively for PlayStation 4.
