Microsoft is to unveil the capabilities of DirectX 12 for both the new Windows 10 and Xbox One at this year’s Game Developers Conference, which begins later today. Amongst the many panels and demonstrations set, knowing the potential of Microsoft’s new graphics API alone is something everyone is waiting anxiously for. However, there is talk that Microsoft has another card up its sleeve.
Following a trail of breadcrumbs, WorldsFactory.net believes that Microsoft could announce Forza Motorsport for the PC at GDC 2015. This is backed by the company’s first tech demo for DirectX 12 at last year’s GDC where it ran Forza Motorsport 5 on the PC at 60 frames per second.
The demonstration was headed by Turn 10’s Software Architect Chris Tector who mentioned that it only took four months using a four-man team to get the game running.
Tector’s presence at GDC 2015 has been confirmed, where he will be heading a developer session titled Developing Games for Windows 10. He will be one of two speakers, the other being Don Box, a Microsoft Engineer.
This session is scheduled to take place half an hour after Phil Spencer’s “The Future of Gaming Across the Microsoft Ecosystem” talk. The stars do seem to be in alignment for a potential game announcement.
Forza has always been exclusive to Microsoft’s Xbox platform and it landing on the PC will surely make heads turn. Fable Legends is another Microsoft Studios title that already has been confirmed for the PC.
The official press release stated that “Fable Legends is just the first of the major game franchises from Microsoft Studios coming to Windows 10 and we will have more to share in the coming months.” Could be just your standard PR or maybe Windows 10 really will allow Microsoft to push some colors to the PC platform.
