If you own a PlayStation 4, on which you play Fortnite and attempt to log into that account on your Nintendo Switch you’ll be disappointed. All Fortnite PS4 Accounts are blocked on Nintendo Switch and as Epic Games announced, there’s nothing they can do about it.
Fans all over the world are getting enraged over the fact that they can’t carry over their Fortnite PS4 Accounts to Nintendo Switch. All those sweet skins and cosmetics you got on your PS4 won’t be available on the hybrid console as well as all your progress. This is not happening only on PS4 though.
If you create a Fortnite account on Nintendo Switch, you won’t be able to access it on PlayStation 4 as well. The error message you get says that “This Fortnite account is associated with a platform which does not allow it to operate on Switch”. After that, you get the solution, create a new account. Harsh right?
There’s no comment from either Nintendo’s nor Sony’s end and even Epic Games refuses to respond to that issue. If you take a look at the FAQ provided by Epic Games you’ll find the terms that Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 can’t crossplay. There’s nothing about blocking mentioned there though.
We can’t know for sure who’s to blame for that issue, however, everyone bets on Sony, since crossplay not being available in the past was an issue for Fortnite again. The company openly rejects some forms of cross-play with other platforms, as a means of keeping gameplay cheat-free. That can’t be the case with Nintendo Switch though so where does the issue lie?
For what it’s worth, Fortnite has just reached more than 2 million downloads on Nintendo Switch in just 24 hours. We expect that number to be pumped up even more over the next days and possibly see a pump in Switch sales too. Who wouldn’t want to play battle royale on the go?
