Fortnite players want to see crossplay between PS4 and Xbox One. The highly demanded feature is supported by Microsoft as well as Epic Games but nothing is implemented so far.
Microsoft and Epic Games has publicly supported Fortnite crossplay between PS4 and Xbox One but Sony has shown no interest in the matter. To compel the company, players have started a petition.
Epic Games and Microsoft, developer and manufacturer of Fortnite and the Xbox video-games console respectively, have both shown a willingness to allow Xbox and PlayStation owners to play Fortnite against each other online. To date, PlayStation manufacturer Sony has yet to comment or show support for the idea. Cross-platform is already allowed between mobile, PC and Xbox or Playstation players, therefore proving there are no system limitations preventing this from happening.
Seeing an interest in the crossplay feature Microsoft released a statement saying that it is up to Sony at this point.
We’ve worked closely with Nintendo to allow cross-network play between Xbox One and Switch and our offer to do the same with PlayStation players still holds. For any other questions regarding Fortnite cross-network play between Xbox and PlayStation, please reach out to Epic or Sony directly.
It is unclear why Sony isn’t interested in Fortnite crossplay between PS4 and Xbox One. But fan-demand is high, the petition is closing in on its 25K signatures. At the time of this writing, the petition has little over 24K supporters. You can also support the petition and see if Sony changes its stance on Fortnite crossplay.
