Ubisoft: No “Floating Collectibles” In Assassin’s Creed Origins Only Meaningful Content

Assassin’s Creed franchise is one of the most well-known ones in the industry but, one of the complaints from fans is that the games are packed with filler content that didn’t have any meaning or value, however, Ubiosft is correcting its mistake in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Origins and is staying away from “Floating collectibles”.

In the latest issue of GamesMaster magazine, game director Ashraf Ismail confirmed that Ubisoft is staying away from floating collectibles that were jam-packed in previous titles and Assassin’s Creed Origins will only include content and even collectibles that add value not the other way around.

Not only is Egypt a place you want to explore because it’s a world of unique locations but by taking the time to go there you’re going to find something that has value for you, whether that’s lore or gameplay. We’re staying far away from what we call ‘floating collectibles’. We want things in the world to have meaning.

Speaking of meaningful changes, Ubisoft has also made changes to the game’s loot system and it is safe to say that the studio has completely overhauled it for the upcoming title.  The studio describes it as a smart loot system. According to devs, it is not completely random and players can go out and hunt for the desired equipment.

t’s a smart loot system; it’s not purely random, but we wanted that players can go out into the world and hunt for this equipment without saying exclusively, ‘This one spear is here, this one axe is here.’

Also, Ashraf Ismail has revealed that every stat in the game matters whether its speed, distance, defense, or any other stat, all will matter in combat as the game offers different kinds and grades of weaponry and attributes that suite to every player’s play style.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is an upcoming action RPG in development at Ubisoft and is scheduled to launch on October 27, 2017, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
