Final Fantasy is one of the biggest franchises for Square Enix and with no plans for Final Fantasy XV sequel many wonder what will be next in the Final Fantasy franchise and it turns out that we don’t have to wait long to find out as Square Enix has confirmed Final Fantasy titles for 2018.
The confirmation comes from Final Fantasy brand manager Shinji Hashimoto that multiple Final Fantasy titles will launch in 2018. Hashimoto told Edamame Arcade Channel “Next year will be a big one and we will bring exciting, new Final Fantasy games to the world. Thank you all for your support”.
However, he refrained from commenting on what Final Fantasy titles will launch in 2018 and as of now Final Fantasy XV is scheduled to launch on PC in early 2018 and spinoff Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. Also, we might see the launch of the first episode of Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Square Enix has no plans for a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XV, however, game director Hajime Tabata has stated that he would like to work on something new instead of working on Final Fantasy XVI.
Also, Square Enix has announced that the game will be getting more content next year which is hardly surprising since the studio has no plans for a direct sequel but intends to support the game with new content.
While it is not known what content Square Enix will roll out for Final Fantasy XV in 2018 but Tabata has hinted that he would like to develop a Final Fantasy XV expansion focusing on Lunafreya. He added that he has a desire to showcase Lunafreya as a strong character. He noted that currently, the focus is to get ‘Episode Ignis’ out.
Final Fantasy XV is an open-world action adventure title developed by Square Enix for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and will come to PC in early 2018.
