Square Enix is working on Final Fantasy 7 remake for years now. However, the studio hasn’t revealed much about the game. Now, Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that Until Kingdom hearts 3 releases, don’t expect to see anything related to Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
During a recent fan Q&A session for the World Ends With You: Final Remix, a fan asked Tetsuya Nomura when will fans get to play the remake.
According to Tetsuya, he is working on both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3. He noted that he is focusing on KH3 at the moment. Once Tetsuya completed his work on the game, then he will focus on the Final Fantasy remake.
“Perhaps not everyone is aware of this, but I am working on a remake of Final Fantasy VII… [laughs]. I’m focusing on Kingdom Hearts III at the moment, but once that’s done I’ll be heading over there next.
Kingdom Hearts 3 releases in January 2019, which is just a couple of months away. This means as KH3 releases, the studio will go into full production on Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Square Enix announced the remake back in 2015 at E3. Since then, Square Enix has been mostly silent about the game. However, rumors and leaks have kept us in the loop on the development of FF7 Remake.
Tetsuya also hinted at a possible release of a compilation title for Final Fantasy 7 remake. According to Tetsuya, he spoke with the game’s producer about this but, still hasn’t decided yet.
I’ve been thinking about ideas for the Remake’s release, and just spoke with producer Yoshinori Kitase about it today. We have a lot of the old guys thinking about all kinds of developments that can accompany the Remake in some form. If we could maybe do some kind of compilation title. For now, please wait for Final Fantasy VII’s turn.
Not only that, Square Enix is developing the remake as an action game rather than an action-RPG.
Final Fantasy 7 remake is an action-adventure game in development at Square Enix. The game will launch as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
