FIFA 18 is coming to Nintendo Switch along with PC and current-gen consoles and naturally, there were comparisons of the FIFA 18 Switch version with the current-gen version the moment it was announced. However, the producer is not happy with these comparisons and considers them two different football games.
Speaking with Game Industry, producer Andrei Lazarescu talked about the FIFA 18 Switch version and expressed his frustrations about the Switch version being compared with current gen versions. He added that he wouldn’t put Switch version against current-gen versions.
That’s the frustrating thing about it. I wouldn’t put this against the PS4 or Xbox One version, or vice versa, I would look at them as two individual football games. This one’s biggest advantage is that you can play it on the go.
Come to think of it, this does make sense since the Nintendo Switch version lacks some features that are available on PC and current-gen versions like the single-player campaign “The Journey” is not part of the Switch version of FIFA 18.
Also, the Nintendo Switch version of the game has not been developed using the Frostbite engine as opposed to the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions.
In related news, EA SPorts is quite confident about FIFA 18 and its gameplay. According to the devs, those who have already tried the game think that FIFA 18 has the best gameplay in the entire series.
A lot of the people we’ve been talking to are really happy with the new features. In fact, I’ve been talking to people that didn’t know about the new features, but when they play the game, they recognise them right away, since we picked those strategically so people get to enjoy more of the game. People are already calling it out as the best gameplay we’ve ever had.
FIFA 18 is a sports game in development at EA and will launch on September 29, 2017, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
