Far Cry 5 might be coming out early next year but, it is not stopping Ubisoft from sharing new details about the game. Ubisoft is trying to break some molds with the upcoming game and now the devs have shed some light on the game’s length and customization.
Speaking with Gamingbolt, lead writer Drew Holmes was asked about the game’s customization system as very little is known about it. According to Holmes, the customization system in Far Cry 5 is “robust” and also added that players should expect improvements and features from previous games.
It has a robust school system. And there’s going to be lots of weapons to play around with. We’re going to go into it later. But expect improvement and stuff you have see in previous Far Cry games.
As for the campaign’s length, Holmes revealed that Far Cry 5 will take as long as the previous entries in the franchise. Considering that Far cry 3 and 4 took around 30 hours to complete, it is safe to assume that the upcoming Far Cry will also take as much time.
Also, Ubisoft has explained why the upcoming Far Cry is ditching mini-map and towers which were the major part of the previous entries in the franchise. According to lead writer, Drew Holmes, the reason towers and mini-map were removed from the game was to immerse players in the world rather than them staring at the mini map all the time.
Also, Far Cry 5 will not support local co-op and players will only be able to play online co-op. Ubisoft co-op will only be playable through online and players will not be able to play co-op locally.
Far Cry 5 is an open-world action adventure game in development at Ubisoft and is scheduled to launch on February 27, 2018, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
