Fallout 76 is coming later this year and will depart from the usual formula of a singleplayer campaign in Fallout games. Mod support is the important part of Bethesda games and Bethesda isn’t missing it for Fallout 76 as Bethesda has confirmed Fallout 76 mod support.
Speaking with GTM, Bethesda’s Todd Howards confirmed the Fallout 76 mods support but, added that it won’t be available at launch as supporting the game with free and paid DLC is a priority for the studio.
Mod support will be a part of Fallout 76, but not at launch. It’s an area the studio is committed to working out, though it plans on supporting the game with free and paid DLC in the meantime.
However, given that Fallout 76 is a multiplayer title and doesn’t feature a traditional single-player campaign, one might wonder how Bethesda will balance things with Fallout 76 mod support since modding community is a creative bunch and often comes up with mods that no one even thinks of.
As we have seen in previous Bethesda titles, there are some mods that give players give additional abilities and advantages over other characters in the game.
With that in mind, it seems that Bethesda will be applying some strict moderation on the game or the mods allowed for the game will be cosmetic only.
We speculate that Bethesda will be limiting the mod creators for Fallout 76 mods as they did with Fallout 4 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. With Fallout 4, the modders are allowed to create mods that are 2 GB in size maximum.
Bethesda will probably be limiting the mod creators with its mod tool for Fallout 76 that will not allow the creators to create mods that don’t mess up the balance in the multiplayer experience or Bethesda will be implementing strict moderation for Fallout 76 mod support and will only allow mods that don’t destroy the game’s balance.
Speaking of the game, the upcoming game is set in West Virginia and could feature the Mothman, a popular creator in the folklore of West Virginia.
