Everything To Know About Resident Evil 3 Remake

Capcom has finally announced Resident Evil 3 Remake to be in development, which comes as no surprise since numerous rumors had already made similar claims.

Capcom has finally announced Resident Evil 3 Remake is in development, which comes as no surprise since numerous rumors had already made similar claims. Much like how the developer recently overhauled the second installment, the fully reimagined version of another classic from the same franchise will deliver stunning graphics and smooth third-person gameplay.

Even though Capcom has only just made the announcement, the publisher probably has another winner on its hands. Resident Evil 2 Remake has surpassed the total sales of the original in just a year by selling more than 5 million copies. Resident Evil 3 Remake should find similar numbers or at the very least, mow past the original which was reported to have sold about 3.5 million copies by 2008.

The following is what there’s to know about the new remake for the time being. Should Capcom provide any further details, the piece will be updated accordingly.

RE3 Remains faithful to the original

Capcom has taken some liberty to modernize Resident Evil 3 Remake but not at the cost of steering away from the source. In the original version, Jill Valentine is seen escaping Racoon City as the zombie outbreak hits following the events of the first game. Carlos Olivero, who works for Umbrella, is also caught in the middle. Both join forces after meeting up in order to better their chances of survival. Based on what Capcom has shown so far, Resident Evil 3 Remake should stick closely to the same narrative.

Resident Evil 3 multiplayer

Remember Project Resistance from a few months back? The asymmetric team-based survival game will come bundled as the multiplayer component of Resident Evil 3 Remake. Set within the same horrific universe, Project Resistance pits four players against a fifth player-controlled villain inside of a closed environment that will contain a number of traps and waves of monsters to survive.

Resident Evil 3 Gameplay

While forwarding some special messages (and details) in a development video, producers Peter Fabiano and Masachika Kawata also gave a peek at gameplay. The footage contains random moments from the campaign but does offer minor understanding of how Resident Evil 3 Remake will play out. Suffice to say, the game looks stunning in every aspect.

There’s a collector’s edition

Those interested in making a memorable purchase will have the option of picking up a collector’s edition of Resident Evil 3 Remake for a steep $180. Owners will get an 11-inch Jill Valentine statue, a double-sided map of Raccoon City, an artbook, the digital soundtrack, and a classic costume pack.

Unfortunately, the collector’s edition seems to be limited to North America for the time being. Capcom may address this down the road or maybe release another collector’s edition for Resident Evil 3 Remake in other territories.

Pre-order bonuses are pretty classic

Capcom has indeed set aside some pre-order bonuses in the form of a classic costume pack. Securing an early copy of Resident Evil 3 Remake will allow players to fit both Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira into their original, retro outfits from the PlayStation version. While the remake stays close to the source material, Capcom has taken some liberty to modernize how the characters look. Pre-ordering will give fans a chance to relive the golden era.

Resident Evil 3 Release Date

Resident Evil 3 Remake (alongside Project Resistance) is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3, 2020. Once fans are done with their holiday celebrations, they will only have to wait a couple of months at best before heading back into Raccoon City.
