At the E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) 2017 a few months back BioWare and Electronic Art(EA) showed their present project, an action role-playing game (RPG) named Anthem. There is little that we know about the new game but a photo came up on the Twitter indicating that developers are experimenting with a virtual reality. Meaning that Anthem VR could be a possibility.
Having a booth in a internal party doesn’t say much about what the studio is working on and if there is an actual virtual reality version of Anthem.
According to a Reddit post, one of the Redditors got to try out the Anthem VR but he says that it was only for internal use, not being considered for shipment for now.
Got a chance to try it. It was a cool experience but no, it was internal staff only and not something meant to be shipped. But who knows, maybe it tit gets enough demand they’ll make a promotional experience or something.
E3 2017 EA’s executive VP Patrick Soderlund said:”Anthem is a social game where you and your friends go on quest and journeys. It’s a game that we’ve been working on for almost four years now, and once we launch it next year I think it’ll be the start of a ten-year journey for us.”
Bethesda Game Studios have brought big IP’s like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR to headsets this year. If BioWare wants to compete in the market they should plan and execute Anthem VR properly.
Having plans for VR needs immersive tech that isn’t so farfetched at the moment. Sony Interactive Entertainment(SIE) claiming 2 million PlayStation VR’s have been sold, the industry is growing and catching the eye of the people.
