Studios are already working on creating titles for the next generation of consoles. Defiant is currently creating such a title, as revealed by their job listings. This looks like a brand new IP for Defiant, although we already know that a sequel for Lords of the Fallen is also in development by the studio alongside CI Games.
The information was reported by Generacion Xbox, dug straight out of Defiant’s website. The studio is looking for employees to cover a variety of different spots ranging from engine developers to character and environment artists.
The studio’s job listing for a Lead Engine Programmer has revealed the nature of their unannounced project, which is supposedly an original title for next-generation consoles. This means that their ‘under-development- project will release in no less than 2 years. 2020 is the year analysts believe the next Xbox and PlayStation consoles will get released, seemingly a good year for them to be launching given the number of unreleased games for both current ones.
Defiant’s job listing for a Lead Engine Programmer reads:
Defiant Studios is looking for an experienced Engine Programmer who has a broad range of skill sets and capabilities to help build and develop our projects. This is a rare opportunity to work on an original AAA console title for next-generation platforms. We are a small but growing team, so your tasks would be broad giving you opportunities to expand your knowledge across multiple systems and platforms. Most importantly, you would help lead Defiant’s research and development into new platforms, architectures, and related technologies.
Defiant was founded in New York City in 2016 by David Grijns who’s the former head of the studio and director of Avalanche Studios New York which is known for their work in Just Cause 3. They have currently taken on the partnering role of developing Lords of the Fallen 2 with CI Games after they let go of Deck 13, so the future looks bright for the studio.
