This Unusual Cooler Voids The Warranty For Your Intel Core i7-7700K, But It’s Worth It

PC enthusiast like to push the limits of their CPU chips by overclocking them using liquid cooling and a prototype cooler has popped up that allows for Intel Core i7-7700K to reach 5.3 GHz across all 4 cores and keeps the temperature around 75 degrees, however, the catch is that you will be voiding your CPUs warranty.

Linus Tech tips, received the prototype liquid cooler to test it out and they did on an Intel Core i7-7700K. The reason why it voids the warranty is that the cooler requires the CPU to be de-lid because it has to make direct contact with the die essentially replacing the integrated heat spreader.

As you can see in the video below, the cooler allows the Intel Core i7-7700K to run at 5.3 GHz clock speed for all 4 cores and keeps the temperature around 75 degrees which is incredible if you can handle the voiding of the CPU warranty and have the specs that can handle it.

Speaking of Intel CPU, while Intel has made a leap in core and thread counts in its 8th Gen CPUs with I7-8700K featuring 6 Cores as opposed to 4 Cores for 7700K but, seems that Intel will be increasing them even further.

According to Eurocom, portable workstation manufacturer, Intel Core i7-8700K generational successor will feature 8 Cores and 16 threads in 2019.

Meaning that 9 Gen Core i7 will feature 8 physical cores and 16 threads. The 9th Gen Intel Processors will be 10nm Ice Lake. However, it is not confirmed if the core and thread counts will increase for the 9th Gen Intel Core i5 and Core i3.

Also, Intel has announced a slew of Coffee Lake Mobile CPUs with Intel Core i9 8950HK leading the H-Series. The Intel Core i9-8950HK has a base clock speed of 2.9GHz and the boost clock is 4.6GHz.
