Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming game “Control” will give PS4 players exclusive content over Xbox One, digital, and retail versions.
Earlier in 2019, there was a clash between 505 Games and Sony which has now led to the PS4 version of Control getting some platform-exclusive content.
Apart from cosmetic items, the PS4-exclusive “Digital Deluxe Edition” will have the season pass, exclusive mission, and more content. This exclusive content train doesn’t stop there as the PS4 version will also have in-game advantages like rare mods.
PS4 users will also gain early access to the Control’s two expansion packs. Right now, there hasn’t been any announcements how long this exclusive period will last.
The deal is already receiving negative comments from fans on the Xbox One sub-Reddit. Many gamers believe that everyone should get the same experience from the game.
Platform-exclusive content creates an imbalance with one platform getting better treatment than the rest. Think of it like a pie that isn’t evenly distributed amongst a group.
Although 505 Games and Sony adding this much content to the PlayStation 4 port is quite unfair for Xbox One users, they shouldn’t feel bad just yet.
The good news for Xbox Game Pass Subscription holders is that Microsoft has now announced some big titles that are coming to Xbox One this April. It will be a limited time deal that will end on May 13 at 12 AM PT/3 AM ET.
Although the practice of exclusive content has existed for many years now, Control’s implementation of it brings an entirely different edition of the game for PS4 users. It is going to be tricky for those who have both consoles and unfair for those who only have Xbox One.
