Black Ops 4 is the first Call of Duty game to feature a Battle Royale mode and so far, the reception is positive. Fans are liking it a lot but what about those who are new to Call of Duty in the first place? Is the COD battle royale newcomer friendly?
Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode supports many features that should already feel familiar to any newcomer who played PUBG or Fortnite. 88 players enter the biggest Call of Duty map ever created but only one (team) comes out alive. You can play solo, duo, or as part of 4 member team.
Similar to PUBG and Fortnite, players drop down from above and pick up weapons and gear from the ground. It is all in the first-person mode so unless you experienced PUBG in first-person, this may take a couple of games to get used to.
Blackout mode feels like a much-refined version of PUBG if PUBG was made with a AAA budget; which means this game is most definitely newcomer friendly.
If you are familiar with the basics of Battle Royale, you will yourself right at home in Black Ops 4 Blackout mode. Kidus to Treyarch for making sure Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout feels familiar yet unique to the players. The trademark Call of Duty gunplay makes it fun, and a unique Battle Royale games when compared to PUBG and Fortnite.
Whether it will be able to challenge the two kings of battle royale in terms of popularity remains to be seen.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is releasing on October 12 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Blackout PC open beta is currently live through Blizzard.net. Only a few more hours to go before the beta ends.
