Shields in Borderlands 3 are a necessary part of your character’s outfit, as it provides protection and damage resistance. The Legendary Shields and Unique Shields in Borderlands 3 have special capabilities that grant the player with buffs and boosts. BL3 shields can be a game-changer with their various effects and bonuses and without those, your character is extremely weak.
Borderlands 3 Shields
Below is a list of all the Legendary Shields and Unique Shields in the game and their corresponding bonuses, each changing the gameplay in interesting ways.
Legendary Shields Locations
Following are all the Legendary Shields in Borderlands 3. Most of them are randomly dropped by enemies killed.
Front Loader
This shield increases shield capacity by converting health. It can be looted from enemies inside the Courtyard on Athenas.
Brawler Ward
This Legendary Shield increases melee damage with a weapon buff when depleted.
Impaler
A corrosive projectile is thrown when shot at, which causes corrosive damage in melee range.
Rough Rider
This shield in Borderlands 3 increases HP and reduces damage taken.
Big Boom Blaster
Increases shields and adds a grenade and a rocket to the inventory.
Barricade Re-Charger
When depleted, shield refills immediately.
Unique Shields Locations
These unique shields are mostly side mission rewards.
Caffeine Shield
This shield offers +50% reload speed and 15% fire rate when the shield is full. However, when the shield is depleted both reload speed and fire rate take a severe penalty.
Overflowing Maxxi’s Embrace
This Unique Shield heals you and allies for +71 health when the shield breaks.
MSRC Auto-Dispensary
This Unique Shield in BL3 has a 35% chance to drop a pill when you take damage. The pill can provide a buff along with some side effects.
Golden Touch
Quick HP regeneration (when the shield is full) and high melee damage buff (when it is depleted).
