A brand new large-scale mode of play for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has been announced, after being hinted at at EA Play at last year’s E3. The new Battlefront 2 mode, called Capital Supremacy, will pit players against each other trying to capture each side’s different capital ship, and will take place on Geonosis.
The game mode is reputedly unlike anything that players have ever done before in Battlefront 2. Players will be placed on a specialized map that was made with the mode in mind, and will have to fight across the map capturing various Command Posts. Capturing command posts will earn you reinforcement points.
Once you earn enough points, transport ships will arrive and…transport…you to the enemy ship. From there, the battle will turn from a planetary one into a boarding action as the boarding players attempt to break through the ship’s defenses and destroy vital systems to ensure the ship’s destruction.
The mode is somewhat similar to other game modes like the Scarif Infiltration mode or Death Star mode from the first Battlefront game, though there are a few changes.
If you run out of tickets before the ship can be destroyed, you will be returning to the planetary surface to gain enough tickets to try again. This makes the entire mode a large game of tug-of-war. The game won’t be as large as some other modes, being only 20 vs 20, but there will also be 24 other bots running around to give the new Battlefront 2 mode more scale.
Since it’s taking place on Geonosis, the only era that you’ll be able to play this in is during the Clone Wars. This will give you a choice of four heroes on each side. The Separatists will have General Grievous, Count Dooku, Darth Maul, and Bossk, while the Republic will have Obi-Wan, Anakin, Yoda, and Chewbacca.
The new Battlefront 2 mode will be coming out on March 26, so if you’ve gotten tired of all of the other modes in the game, hopefully Capital Supremacy will be able to refresh Battlefront 2 for you.
