Battlefield 5 has launched for PC and consoles. Like many PC games, Battlefield 5 has encountered unforeseeable issues like no connection, crash on startup, green screen and more.
Here we have compiled a list of errors and issues that players are encountering with the game along with their possible fixes and workarounds.
Battlefield 5 Green Screen, Low FPs and Fixes
With every Battlefield title, developer DICE has pushed the game to its limits in terms of visuals. Battlefield 5 is no exception as the game not only features beautiful graphics but also brings RTX support too.
However, the PC version of Battlefield 5 is facing problems like no connection, low FPS, and more errors. The following are the errors and issues that players are experiencing along with their possible fixes and workarounds.
Game Not Launching
Players are reporting that Battlefield 5 is not starting for them, likely crashes on startup. Here are a few things that you can do to bypass this issue.
The first thing you need to do it either disable the firewall or make an exception for the game in the firewall. This will resolve the game not launching issue for you.
Furthermore, your anti-virus software or Windows Defender might be the one not letting Battlefield 5 to launch. Either make an exception or disable the antivirus.
Make sure to disable third-party monitoring software like MSI After Burner. These should fix the game not launching problem.
Crashes, Game Freezing Fix
Game crashing or freezing is a common issue for PC games. However, these issues can be resolved rather easily.
Players are reporting that Battlefield 5 crashes or freezes randomly. Make sure you have disabled the DirectX 12 as this is causing the game to crash an freeze.
Also, third-party software might be interfering with the game. Try a clean boot if you don’t want to disable them.
Another from Battlefield 5 freeezing is the overclocked GPU. Chances are when you overclocked the GPU you didn’t bump up the Voltages accordingly. You can either revert the overclokcing or bump the Voltages for stable performance.
100% CPU Usage Fix
Players are reporting that when they start Battlefield 5 their CPU usage spikes to 90 – 100%. It doesn’t matter if it is overclocked Core i7-8770K, the game uses 100% of the CPU. Here are a couple of things you can do to bring the CPU usage down.
Disable third-party monitoring software like MSI Afterburner as they can potentially spike up CPU usage along with potentially causing other problems.
If you are using an Nvidia GPU then there is a possibility that the game is running PhysX on the CPU. Open Nvidia Control Panel and select “Set PhysX Configuration”. If it is set to Auto or CPU then change it your GPU. Apply the settings and start the game and 100% CPU usage issue would now be resolved.
Settings Not Saving
This is an unusual issue with Battlefield 5 as settings are there to be changed and saved. The fix for setting nor saving problem is a simple one.
The issue is related to the Windows OS, Windows user folder specifically. If your Username for Windows contains any non-English letters, the game will fail to save the game. All you need to do is change your Username for Windows and you will be able to save your settings in Battlefield 5.
Missing Online Access
This issue is being caused by DirectX 12. If you have it enabled and are encountering this issues then disable it until DICE fixes this problem.
No Connection Fix
If you are playing Battlefield 5 on the same network on two different PCs with separate accounts, you might encounter no connection for having the same IP address. To fix this one IP address problem, all you need to do is:
- Open Origin Client
- Select Battlefield 5 from your library and click on the settings button.
- Select Game Properties
- Select Advanced Launch Option
- Add +clientport 22010
Save this and start the game. This should resolve the no connection issue for you.
Green Screen, Flickering Fix
Some players are reporting that when they start the game, the screen goes green and starts to flicker. The issue is related to the color settings.
Open, Nvidia Control Panel and select “Change Resolution” under “Display”. Click the “Use Nvidia Color Setting” and select the “Highest (32-Bit)” for Desktop Color depth. This will fix the Green Screen and flickering issue.
Low FPS, Stuttering Fix
With so many PC configurations in the world, performance issues are bound to pop up for some. Here are a few things that you can do to ensure the best performance possible on your PC.
Disable the DirectX 12 as it is causing other issues along with causing the performance to drop. Until it is fixed, avoid using DirectX 12.
Make sure there is no background process is running that is using too much of your CPU, HDD, and GPU. You can check it through Task Manager and if you find one then end that task.
For those who own at least GTX 10 series GPU, open Nvidia Control Panel. Select “Manage 3D Settings” and then select “Program Settings”.
Now select Battlefield 5 from the drop-down list and start going through the options. Set V.sync to “Fast”. This will potentially give you a performance boost if you have the GPU and CPU to handle it.
Also, set the “Power management” to “Prefer Maximum Performance” and this will allow the game to utilize the GPU to its fullest.
