You must be itching to get your hands on Batman: Arkham Origins especially when you have played the earlier two installments in the Batman: Arkham series.
Arkham Origins, however, takes players back to how it all started so it’s actually a prequel in the trilogy. So yes, you can play regardless of having played the first two games in the series. Or you can play it first and then go after the other two.
The game got released on PC along with PS3 and Xbox 360 so PC users are up for a treat as games usually get delayed on this poor platform. Anyway, If you are experiencing issues like bugs, crashes, or errors, you can browse through the following troubleshooting guide for workarounds.
#1 Batman: Arkham Origins Crashes with a Driver Issue Message
Even if your drivers are up to date and you are getting this message, you should try to do a clean driver install. Make sure that you have the redistributables and .Net Framework properly installed on your PC. It goes without saying that you should be using the latest version of Directx. Also, make sure that Physx is installed on your PC regardless of being an Nvidia or AMD user.
#2 Batman: Arkham Origins Sound Issue Fix
Some of the users have reported that they are experiencing no sound issues during the game or cutscenes. The problem seems to be compatibility related. The sound will eventually come back after some time or after you restart the game but if the problem persists, you can try the following workaround:
Go to the sound options menu and change the sound source to headphones rather than theater. I am not sure about it but it seems to have resolved the issue for some.
#3 Batman: Arkham Origins Killer Croc Crash Fix
If your game is being crashed during the fight with the Croc, you should try switching Directx 11 from the options menu. It could also be driver related but if your drivers are up to date, nothing can be done about it.
If it’s a driver issue, there can be updates so keep track of your manufacturer’s website. If you managed to fix it with some other method, let us know in the comments below.
#4 Batman: Arkham Origins Multiplayer Progress Not Being Saved
Yes, it’s a bug with no proper fix for the time being. If you are a victim too, I will recommend that you don’t waste your time playing it for the time being. Hopefully, a fix will be rolled out soon to resolve the issue. Enjoy the single-player experience in the meanwhile.
#5 Batman: Arkham Origins – Loading Crash Fix
If your game is being crashed while loading the save files and you haven’t started a multiplayer game yet then start one just to make some files. It worked for a couple of users so it’s worth of a shot.
#6 Batman: Arkham Origins Controller Fix
If you are changing controls using the config file (BMEngine.ini), make sure you mark it as read-only otherwise, the changes will reset on restarting the game. If the controller is non-responsive, try unplugging and plugging it back.
#7 Batman: Arkham Origins Game Won’t Start After the Download is Complete
Try restarting Steam first. If that doesn’t work, you should verify your game files as there might be some files missing. You can also try running the game admin.
#8 Batman: Arkham Origins Black Screen Fix
If you are hearing sounds in the background and nothing but a black screen, the first thing you should check is whether your drivers are up to date or not.
If that doesn’t work then it might be a resolution conflict. I will recommend that you delete “BMinput.ini” in your game’s config directory and then try running the game again. This should fix the problem.
#9 Batman: Arkham Origins Mouse Thumb Buttons Fix
It seems like some users aren’t able to assign any actions to their mouse thumb buttons which are common in gaming hardware these days. If that’s the case for you, try using the mouse software to assign those buttons.
For instance, if you want to use Quick Batarang, the action will have some key on your keyboard by default. All you need to do is map that key on the thumb mouse button. It will automatically perform the desired action.
#10 Batman Arkham: Origins – How to Skip Intros
If intros are annoying for you, you can skip them as follows:
Go to the Steam library and then right-click on Batman properties. After that, add this to the launch options:
-nostartupmovies
This should remove intros for you.
#11 Batman Arkham Origins – How to Remove FPS Cap
You can do it by editing your config file which you can find at: \My Documents\WB Games\Batman Arkham Origins\BmGame\Config\BMEngine.ini. You can open this file using Notepad. After you have opened the file, you should find (pres Ctrl+F) bsmoothframerate value and set it to Flase. Next, you need to set the values of the numbers (both min/max) below it to 0.
You will be able to find bsmoothframerate at two other places too in the document. Change their values too as you did for the first one and save the changes. Make sure that you mark the file to Read-only to make changes into effect.
#12 Batman: Arkham Origins – How to Change FOV
This time, you need to open /My Documents\WB Games\Batman Arkham Origins\BmGame\Config\BMinput.ini file. This time however, you need to add a command at the end of the file.
Bindings=(Name=”F10″,Command=”fov 120″)
The bindings command is there because everytime you die, it will reset the FOV. So, if you die, all you have to do is press the bind button (could be anything).
#13 Batman: Arkham Origins – Game Crashes at Launch
If updating drivers doesn’t help, you should try deleting the BmEngine.ini file and then re-launch the game.
If you come across any other issue not listed above, comment and we will add it in the guide!
