Assassin’s Creed Unity Low Performance, Errors, Crashes, FPS, Stuttering, Fixes

Assassin's Creed Unity errors, crashes, low performance, low fps, bugs, stuttering, screen tearing with workarounds, tweaks and fixes.

Ubisoft promised a true new-generation experience with Assassin’s Creed Unity, and I believe that the word “true” makes it an overstatement as many console users have reported performance issues.

PC users, however, can use the extra juice in their top-notch machines to get this resource-hungry game running at a relatively steady pace.

That’s all good but there are some other issues that PC users are currently facing, which need to be addressed.

While Ubisoft is looking into some of the major issues, you can browse through the following troubleshooting list to find a possible workaround/solution for yourself.

Note: Make sure that your game is up to date as I believe at the time of writing, a patch has already been rolled out to fix multiple issues.

#1 Assassin’s Creed Unity Game Does Not Start 0xc000007b Error
If you are receiving this error then most probably your .Net framework installation is not working properly. You need to re-install it.

After installing the latest version, restart your PC.

#2 Assassin’s Creed Unity Game Stuck on Loading Screen
If you are on a PC, try verifying the game files. Restart Steam and try running the game again. Console users can try resetting the console but if it doesn’t work, they might have to re-install the game.

#3 Assassin’s Creed Unity Can’t Connect Error 0X70000093
Error 0X70000093 is associated with the connectivity and if you are having trouble with it, try resetting your modem/network adapter. If that doesn’t work, it could also be a problem at Ubisoft’s end.

In that case, you need to wait a bit and then try reconnecting.

#4 Assassin’s Creed Unity ‘Game has Stopped Working
The first thing you need to do is verify your game files. If that doesn’t help, try installing a previous version of GPU drivers as some users have reported that driver rollback has fixed the issue for them.

Furthermore, make sure that you are not running third-party applications like MSI Afterburner in the background.

If that doesn’t work, try disabling the overlay option from Uplay settings. This seems to have fixed the issue for some users.

#5 Assassin’s Creed Unity Poor Performance With AMD
If you are an AMD user, chances are that you might be getting poor performance even on your high-end PC. Ubisoft has officially acknowledged the issue and they are working closely with AMD to resolve the issue.

#6 Assassin’s Creed Unity Stuttering Issue
Some users have reported that they are experiencing heavy stutter even if they are well above the minimum system requirements.

If you are using a laptop, make sure that game is being run by using the dedicated video memory and that your laptop is plugged in. It goes without saying that your GPU drivers should be up to date.

After updating the drivers, don’t forget to restart your PC. If you are using SLI, try disabling it. For some users, driver rollback to the older version has also fixed the problem.

#7 Assassin’s Creed Unity ‘Game Crashes With File Corruption Error
If you are getting file corruption errors, you need to verify the integrity of your game’s files. Restart Stream after that and the problem should be fixed.

#8 Assassin’s Creed Unity Uplay Not Working
If you are unable to launch Uplay, try a re-install. And if your problem is related to connectivity, the problem could be at Ubisfot’s end temporarily, which should be resolved after a while.

#9 Assassin’s Creed Unity Save Files Getting Corrupted
If your save file is getting corrupted every time, my first recommendation will be to re-install Uplay. If that doesn’t help, you should disable cloud sync and see if your save game stays intact.

#10 Improve Assassin’s Creed Unity Low Performance
If you are experiencing low frame rates, stuttering, and other performance-related issues with Assassin’s Creed Unity, you can try the following in-game settings:

  • Disabling TXAA improves FPS.
  • Disabling PCSS Shadows/Soft Shadows’ improves FPS.
  • Disabling Vsync will double your FPS, though the game will look a blurry mess.

Geforce has a detailed guide describing each setting and its function and how resource hungry those options are.

You can tweak your game a little to get a proper balance between performance and visuals. It’s important that your GPU drivers should be up to date.

#11 Assassin’s Creed Unity – Random Stuttering and Object Disorientation (PhysX)
Some users have reported that forcing CPU for PhysX instead of GPU has improved their performance for them. You can also try running the game in the borderless window to improve the performance. You can use the Nvidia control panel to alter the settings.

If you come across any other issue, comment and we will help you out!
