Fortunately for the Assassin’s Creed fans a Youtube user, JorRaptor got a chance to visit Ubisoft Quebec and was able to get his hands, on five minutes of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Stealth Gameplay video.
A lot of stealth elements in this upcoming game seem to have been touched but while everyone is excited about it, there are a lot of things, which can be seen in the video that seem similar to the previous game. Although there are a lot of stealth abilities as well as critical assassination skills, still for most of the fans it seems very much similar to Assassin’s Creed Origins.
First of all, Ubisoft seems to be working hard on trying to convert this Assassin’s Creed franchise into a money making machine. Wait a second, most would agree that it already is.
Let’s wind our clocks a few years back, the first Assassin’s Creed although was flawed but it brought something new to the gamers, a lot of potential as some may call it, then Assassin’s Creed 2, Brotherhood and Revelations really introduced new gameplay mechanics and a lot of improvement. Then Assassin’s Creed 3 although was not appreciated enough because of some lose grips on various aspects, but it did bring in some new gameplay features.
What came after, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag really turned the tables, it completely introduced a whole new spectrum to the players. Introducing open seas, ship battles, underwater and so much more.
Following that is where Ubisoft started to change the clothing but kept everything pretty much same. Like the completely whitewashed Rogue, rest was pretty much similar to Blackflag.
If you guys remember Assassin’s Creed Unity had a lot of issues as well, which never completely got dealt with. Then Syndicate although did have some new gameplay tricks up its sleeve and everyone thought Ubisoft might be turning things around.
Finally, Assassin’s Creed Origins rolled out and honestly, it was very much new not only in terms of story and the Egyptian setting but now taking a look at all the available gameplay videos of Assassin’s Creed Odyessy, including this new Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Stealth Gameplay video, one thing is pretty obvious that Odyssey, seems very much like Origins.
There is a who lot of fans raising this same question, over the social media sites like Facebook, Twitter etc. One Reddit user “The Synth Potato” sharing the same frustration said,
“Assassin’s Creed Odyssey literally looks like origins with a few improvements”
Another Reddit user said:
“Origins and Odyssey, it’s literally the same, same buildings, textures, assets, color palette, even the UI is the same. I can literally bring you screenshots from both and you won’t recognize which is which.”
While the Verge also shares the same thought, according to them where Origin was a “major reinvention” in the series, Odyssey is like a refined version of Origin, based on its building blocks. Although the devs say that Odyessy is taking a new approach to RPG elements, we have our doubts.
To be honest, unless Ubisoft brings in a whole new change to this upcoming sequel, for a lot of fans out there it would be like just another Origins DLC.
