One staple tool from the Ubisoft hit franchise, Assassin’s Creed, is the hidden blade tool. The Assassin Hidden Blade is the defining weapon and element of the series that sets it apart from all the others. However, that’s why it’s just in a video game. What happens when you wield the hidden blade in real life? You get arrested.
During a conducted search in the wake of some protests in Paris, police apprehended 27 year old Thomas G. for the possession of a military backpack, a black mask, sunglasses, and a pair of hidden blades strapped to his arms. One particular reason he was apprehended was the fact that he literally fleed when the police caught sight of him. That’s not suspicious at all.
The devices attached to his sleeves worked just like the Assassin’s Creed Hidden blades. Although he didn’t cut his fingers off to wield them the way they do in-game. The officers had to be careful removing the blades as Thomas himself described them as unstable.
Thomas went on to explain to the officers that he was a big fan of cosplaying as well as law enforcement. We don’t have any official quotes or confirmations on the cosplay being Assassin’s Creed but the hidden blades are proof enough. That’s the most prominent usage of them anyways right?
Assassin’s Creed does sort of have a presence in France. Recently even more so after Ubisoft donated to the Notre Dame cathedral after its recent tragedy.
Thomas G. won’t be able to dispense vigilante justice with his setup after all. Besides the hidden blades, he probably should have also picked up free-running from the franchise. He aspired to be a security assistant, but after this arrest, that’s less likely.
