The PC exclusive Alone In The Dark Illumination is aiming for a November 2014 release but Atari hasn’t finalized a Solid release date yet.
Let’s just hope that it doesn’t get into the unpleasant delay cycle which seems to be affecting a lot of games these days.
The gameplay and story telling elements are different this time around and the game is a mix of both FPS and Survival Horror genre. Doesn’t that sound somewhat like Resident Evil 6 or Revelations? Anyways, developer Pure FPS is making the game with the use of the Unreal Engine 4.
“Through challenging missions and dynamic environments filled with blood-thirsty beasts in order to rid an abandoned town of its mysterious curse of Darkness”
Alone In The Dark was shown behind closed doors at the recently held PAX Prime 2014 which featured the hunter-class equipped with a machine gun and dual pistols, taking on the attacking creatures. There are four classes in the game Hunter,Witch,Engineer and priest.
Hunter is the only playable class until you complete the game’s single player campaign which will unlock the other 3 classes. The game will introduce all 3 classes as the narration further unfolds. Light will be the players’ friend as it effects the enemy and will help you kill them off.
Enemy locations and even layouts are randomized, Pure FPS says.
Map Layouts will be different and will randomly change with every playthrough and same is true in the case of enemy locations so don’t expect an enemy to be at the same place every time.
Alone In The Dark Illumination is giving an overhaul to the franchise, but how will the fans receive it? only time will tell. Expect the game sometime this fall.
