Nvidia has been dominating the GPU market as a majority of gamers prefer Nvidia GPUs and it seems that things are not going to change as Steam’s hardware survey has revealed that 85% of Steam gamers use Nvidia GPUs.
According to Steam Hardware survey, 85.3% of Steam gamers use Nvidia GPUs while a meager 8.9% of Steam gamers use AMD cards. This trend also stays true in the CPU survey as 9.1% of Steam users use AMD CPUs while 90.88% of them use Intel CPUs.
Furthermore, the most popular GPU among the Steam gamers is the GTX 1060 followed by GTX 750 Ti, GTX 960, and GTX 1050 Ti. However, it is important to note that these numbers are only for the Steam platform and in no way indicative of the entire PC gaming community.
In related news, Nvidia has predicted that GPU prices will increase furthermore in 2018. The company predicted: “that the pricing in the market will continue to go up through Q3 of this year most likely before we start seeing any type of relief”.
All new cell phones coming out by Apple and Samsung (and others) last year started using the same memory as graphics cards. Apple and Samsung are willing to pay more for this memory to make sure they get it first and all of it that they need. This has created a shortage of memory for the much smaller companies like MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, and EVGA to make graphics cards.
Furthermore, a report has emerged suggesting that the ASIC Miner, BITMAIN, made more money than Nvidia in 2017.
According to Conservative Estimates, BITMAIN, made around $3-4 Billion in profits in 2017 which is way above Nvidia’s $2.91 Billion profits in 2017.
