LEGO Dimensions Almost Added a Mortal Kombat Minigame in The DLC

Apparently LEGO Dimensions was supposed to feature a Mortal Kombat minigame in the DLC, but the idea was later apprehended.

If you had to pick one thing common between LEGO Dimensions and Mortal Kombat, you’d probably have to take a couple of days off of school or work to come up with anything sensible.

Of course, LEGO doesn’t care about coherence, and they’ll happily include characters from anywhere and everywhere in their admittedly wonderful games as long as the said characters and minigames give plenty of joy and entertainment (which they always do).

The recent DLC pack for the game, the Midway Retro Gamer pack, adds over 20 classic Midway minigames in LEGO Dimensions like Gauntlet and Joust. Hilariously, the team behind the game also wanted to add a minigame directly inspired by Mortal Kombat.

Sadly, they had to hold back. Mark Warburton told Polygon how it was a tempting idea, but the all-important age consideration of the average LEGO Dimension player is what eventually led to the decision to not include a Mortal Kombat minigame.

Yeah, it would’ve certainly been cool, but oh well. The average age of the audience is an important factor when adding such content, so it makes sense why LEGO didn’t go through with the idea.

I don’t know about most people, but the first time I personally played Mortal Kombat (the original, ancient one) was when I was seven years old. And I loved every bit of it. Of course, I could never unlock this one specific secret in the first three Mortal Kombat games.

Well, whatever floats your brick boat. A LEGO Scorpion would’ve been super-cool though, if I do say so myself.
