New Resident Evil 8 Leak Teases Werewolves, Chris Redfield and More

A new Resident Evil 8 leak has surfaced claiming that the game will continue the sotry of Ethan as there won't be a new protagonist.

The folks over at Residence of Evil claim that they have received a leak from Biohazard Declassified which suggests that Resident Evil 8 will see the return of Ethan as a “playable character”.

This isn’t much of a surprise since Ethan was the protagonist of Resident Evil 7 even though his character wasn’t as fleshed out as some of the mainstays like Leon Kennedy. Fans can hope that his character is expanded upon in this next installment.

The new Resident Evil 8 leak also claims that the game was being tested last year. Earlier there were rumors which suggested that the Resident Evil Ambassador Program members, had tested an unknown game and that it was either Resident Evil 8 or Dino Crisis. These leaks point towards the idea that it was, in fact, Resident Evil 8 indeed.

The game’s title will have a phrase at the end instead of a number. Most of the Resident Evil games have had a numbered title so this leaves us to speculate if the title will suggest additional details about the game.

The game will have a first-person perspective unlike the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remake which makes sense considering that the last installment also had a first-person perspective.

According to the leaks, the game will have multiple environments ranging from a village, a castle and terrain will vary from rural to snowy and mountainous. The seems reminiscent of Resident Evil 4 which had similar locations, unlike the Urban setting that we saw in recent Resident Evil games.

With the return of regular zombies, the game will also see the addition of “wolf-like creatures” which will accompany the zombies as enemies. The player will be followed by a “persistent shadowy enemy” as suggested by the leaks. The Resident Evil franchise is not known for such horror elements but perhaps this “shadowy enemy” will be introduced in some sort of hallucination.

Finally, Chris Redfield is set to be a part of the game in some form though we don’t know if he will be a playable character or not. The ending of Resident Evil 7 left fans wondering why Chris Redfield was working for Blue Umbrella?.

The Resident Evil 2 remake show Leon Kennedy as a playable character so perhaps Ethan and Chris Redfield will have two separate playthroughs.

Either way, these are exciting times for Resident Evil fans as Capcom has been continuously dishing out hit after hit and expectations are high for the latest installment of the franchise.
