The Last of Us 2 Will Roughly Take 25 Hours to Beat

The Last of Us 2 is 50% bigger compared to the first game in terms of its scale which means it is safe to say the title will be around 23-25 hours long.

The Last of Us 2, Naughty Dog’s upcoming post-apocalyptic title, is 50% bigger compared to the first game. What does this mean? Well, if it means the story and the duration is 50% bigger, then the game will last for at least 23-25 hours. Of course, the exact duration of any game is subjective, it depends on how you choose to play.

During a recent interview, Narrative Director Halley Gross discussed the game’s sheer size and scope. The same size and scope that is the cause of Naughty Dog dropping multiplayer factions mode.

The game I think we’re saying is about 50% bigger, but it is massive, not just in length, but in like, all of our levels are bigger and wider, we have more cinematics, we have more characters, we have more animations. We have larger melee systems, in every way, this game is bigger and better.

According to the data collection website “How Long to Beat,” The Last of Us takes around 15 hours to beat which means if The Last of Us 2 is 50% larger in many of its aspects, it is a safe assumption to that the game will last around 23-35 hours.

Gross also talked about how she was able to discover new things with each of her playthroughs.

I’m really proud of it. I think there are so many incredibly talented people at Naughty Dog. And every time I play, I discover something new. All of our setups are so big, so complicated, you can do so many different things, each setup like as I’m sure you guys saw in the suburbs, like, you can come at the same setup, and play it so many different ways and get new reactions from your enemies, get new reactions from Ellie, I find it a great way to spend a workday.

The Last of Us 2 is releasing on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. The release date is set for February 21, 2020. Pre-orders for the game are live you can pick up a copy from PlayStation Store, and more.
