Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Japan Studio has announced a special event in Japan for November 16. It will be the Japan Studio Fun Meeting 2019, a community-oriented event held annually since 2017.
The event will take place in the SSJ Shinagawa building in Tokyo from 5pm to 8pm (local time).
Attendees will enjoy food and drink, the possibility of getting special memories, a talk from SIE Japan Studio developers, game demonstrations, and a question and answer tournament. You can also take pictures with video game characters: Astro by Astro Bot and Toro by Ape Escape.
They will broadcast the event online. Those who want to attend in person will have to buy a ticket of 1000 yen, but only 150 passes will go on sale. Those interested can send a request until October 20, and if the capacity is exceeded, attendees will be chosen by lottery. You can apply here!
I do not expect that announcements will be made about new titles if they follow the style of the previous two years.
Insomniac Games (Marvel’s Spider-Man, Sunset Overdrive) is the last major studio that has joined the ranks of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, the conglomerate of internal teams of the Japanese company, which also include big companies like Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica, among others.
The acquisition has some unknowns and questions, especially when it comes to one of the most recent intellectual properties, Sunset Overdrive. In an interview with the Japanese medium Inside Games, Shuhei Yoshida, leader of Worldwide Studios, has confirmed that the IP definitely belongs to Sony.
Although PlayStation has remained a low profile in recent months, the hype got big when an event was announced that will take place on September 24 and could have important information related to The Last of Us: Part II.
However, there are still many doubts about what will happen because the Outbreak Day of the franchise is celebrated on September 26 and speculation has increased after a renowned analyst hinted at something about it.
After they confirmed The Last of Us: Part II event, the conversations went to ResetEra after Daniel Ahmad, the recognized Niko Partners analyst, made the following statement.
That was not the only Sony event that week.
Specifically, it is indicated that in such context “Sony will use The Last of Us Part II to show the world the features that PlayStation 5 has to offer”. Among these, it is possible to prepare for the following:
- Graphics and lighting effects like never before.
- Up to four times more polygons than in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
- The transitions between cutscenes have been improved.
- New mechanics and systems incorporated in Ellie to bring tension to the limit.
Something that seems certain to me is that Sony is not sitting arms folded. They are constantly working on future details about all their works and holding events to keep everyone updated and interested.
