Over the past few week, we heard rumors and reports saying Death Stranding is a game that’s not gonna be PS4 exclusive for long. In fact, a post from PlayStation Blog confirmed the PC version years ago. However, that post was removed to hide the fact. Now, the Australian Rating Board has confirmed that Death Stranding is indeed a “multi-platform” game.
The following is the Death Stranding multi-platform (possibly PC, Xbox One, and PS4) rating by the Australian Classification Board. The rating was posted on August 28, 2019, so around a week ago.
The game is given an MA15+ rating as it features strong themes and violence, online interactivity. Publisher, as expected, is Sony Interactive Entertainment and the creator is Hideo Kojima’s Kojima Productions. Sony filed this for this rating which means this IP is owned by Sony so while we can expect a PC version, don’t hold your breath for an Xbox One version.
Sony has released its own IPs on PC in the past so we know how the company supports this platform. PC gaming and Sony have a long-standing history with PC so a Steam release is more than likely. Meanwhile, if the game comes to Xbox One it will be the first time in history a Sony-owned IP comes to Microsoft’s platform.
Whichever way it goes, one thing is pretty much confirmed at this point that Death Stranding is a multi-platform game. Still, let’s wait for Sony and Hideo Kojima to confirm the news, again.
Death Stranding is releasing in November for PS4 and PS4 Pro. The PC version, if it happens, will come sometime next year. Pre-orders for the game are now live on PlayStation Store and third-party retailers.
