Techland Confirms Dying Light 2 is Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett

In a recent long-reaching interview with Wccftech, Techland development team revealed that Dying Light 2 was meant to be a cross-generation title

2015’s first Dying Light was arguably one of the best zombie survival games of recent time with the game putting an emphasis on fluid traversal as well as up close zombie combat. A lot of fans have been looking forward to its sequel, Dying Light 2, which was announced at E3 2018 during the Xbox press conference by Chris Avellone. With the recent news of next-gen consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlet, it left many fans wondering if Dying Light 2 will be a cross-gen title.

Dying Light 2 originally had a release date set for 2019 but it was delayed. Game developers then announced that players will be able to get their hands on Dying Light 2 in early 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In a recent long-reaching interview with Wccftech, members of the Techland development team discussed a variety of different topics relating to Dying Light 2. They talked about how large the sandbox world will be in the game and how the players will be able to interact with various NPCs.

When Paweł Rohleder was asked the pressing question of whether fans will be able to experience Dying Light 2 on next-gen gaming consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlet, he answered in a surprisingly candid and direct way saying that Dying Light 2 was meant to be a cross-generation title.

“Techland always has an eye on the latest new toys! To be more specific — yes, the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title.”

Cross-generation means the shift from one console generation to the next. While the original Dying Light was released on January 2015 for PC, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, we saw a lot of rumors suggesting that Dying Light 2 will eventually release for next-gen consoles, making the game cross-gen.

Even though the developers haven’t said the exact magic words and confirming a next-gen release for Dying Light 2. From their words, it really sounds like a possibility. It isn’t so far-fetched to assume that the developers will later on also push for a next-gen release. The idea to be the first zombie horror game to release for next-gen platforms may sound really good for any game developer, especially Techland with Dying Light 2.

Dying Light 2 is an upcoming survival horror action role-playing game being developed by Techland and published by Techland Publishing. Dying Light 2 has a release date for early 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
