SEGA To Unveil Yakuza 7 Next Month In Japan

Sega will be officially unveiling Yakuza 7 on August 29th during a press conference to be held at the UDX Theater in Akihabara.

According to an official confirmation from Sega Japan, the company will be unveiling Yakuza 7 in the famous Yakuza series next month during a press conference which is going to be held at the UDX Theater in Akihabara, Japan.

The Yakuza game series is an action-adventure beat ’em up video game franchise created, owned and published by Sega. It consists of eight main games as well as eight spin-offs for multiple platforms.

As reported by Every Eye, Yakuza 7 will be starring Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist from Shin Ryu ga Gotoku and onward. Kasuga will be accompanied by Eri Kamataki.

Ever since its debut in 2015, the franchise has become well-known due to it being a commercial and critical success. Back in 2017, Sega has reported that the Yakuza franchise has sold a combined total of 10.5 million units consisting both in physical and digital sales since its initial launch.

The success was so strong that the sales of the Yakuza games in the Japanese market expanded to other media such as several film adaptations of the games.

The Yakuza games are set in a fictionalized version of the real-life Kabukichō district in Tokyo. We also see a multitude of other areas such as Throughout the series, characters visit other areas of Japan, such as Osaka in Yakuza 2 and 0, Okinawa in Yakuza 3, Nagasugai, part of the fictional Fukuoka based on Nakasu. Tsukimino, part of the fictional Sapporo is based on Susukino.

Kin’eicho, part of the fictional Nagoya based on Sakae in Yakuza 5, and Hiroshima in Yakuza 6. The setting of Yakuza 7 has not been confirmed yet but is likely we will learn about it next month.

Yakuza 7—another sequel in the franchise—will no doubt be highly beneficial for Sega from a sales perspective. Fans will flock to stores just to get their hands on a new game. Sega will be officially unveiling Yakuza 7 on August 29th during a press conference to be held at the UDX Theater in Akihabara.

Yakuza 7 (working title) has a release date of March 2020 in Japan for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 PRO.
