PlayStation 4 Gets Marvel’s Avengers Multiplayer Beta Timed Exclusivity

With San Diego Comic-Con 2019 taking place right now, we are seeing a lot of new information and trailers of our beloved entertainment properties. One of these properties is Marvel’s upcoming Avengers video game being developed by Crystal Dynamics.

During their panel at SDCC19, Marvel Games also showed off 20 minutes of extended Avengers gameplay with improved character designs. The game developers also revealed that PlayStation 4 players will get their hands on awesome surprises and unique benefits as well as first access to Avengers’ multiplayer beta mode next year.

Marvel’s Avengers was one of the standout games at E3 2019. The timing for the game couldn’t be better since Avengers Endgame wrapped up a storyline that was building for over 10 years. Fans wondered what will be the next big thing Marvel would bring and the Avengers game was the answer.

The developers also posted a series of Tweets on their official Twitter page that mostly just consisted of information coming from the comic-con 2019 panel. One of the standouts of these Tweets was that PlayStation 4 players will be able to play the Avengers’ multiplayer beta mode in early 2020.

The Marvel Comic-Con 2019 panel was held in Hall H, where there was a lot of discussions regarding future Marvel Games projects such as Iron Man VR, Ultimate Alliance 3, Conquest of Champions, as well as the upcoming Avengers game.

Marvel showed off about 20 minutes of extended Avengers gameplay to the people in Hall H. This gameplay demo was more or less similar to what Square Enix showed behind closed doors but somewhat more polished.

It follows the same gameplay sequence where an explosion takes place on the San Francisco Bridge during the A-Day event. Captain America then sends off Thor and Iron Man to the location. Later on, Bruce Banner (The Hulk) and Black Widow also join the battle.

The attack is being led by Taskmaster and his forces which is later revealed to be a distraction. Another attack takes place in the city and Captain America is apparently killed in a Helicarrier crash.

Now there are a couple of things to note regarding this Avengers gameplay demo that Marvel showed off during Comic-Con 2019. A massive complaint from fans was that the character designs looked very awkward, especially Black Widows and Thor’s.

Of course, a lot of people were accustomed to seeing Scarlett Johansson’s face as Black Window. Fans will be glad to know that Crystal Dynamics has since made very subtle tweaks to the Avengers character designs in order to make it seem more realistic.

Take a look at some of the changes made to the character designs below:

In addition to this, the game developers have also revealed that Avengers will feature extensive character customization options as well as ability upgrades.

Marvel’s Avengers game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and is published by Square Enix for PC, Google Stadia, and PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 15, 2020. PS4 players will get early beta access to the Avengers’ multiplayer mode, which set to begin next year.
