The Marvel Comic-Con 2019 panel was held in Hall H, where there was a lot of discussions regarding future Marvel Games projects such as Iron Man VR, Ultimate Alliance 3, Conquest of Champions, as well as the upcoming Avengers game.
Marvel showed off about 20 minutes of extended Avengers gameplay to the people in Hall H. This gameplay demo was more or less similar to what Square Enix showed behind closed doors but somewhat more polished.
It follows the same gameplay sequence where an explosion takes place on the San Francisco Bridge during the A-Day event. Captain America then sends off Thor and Iron Man to the location. Later on, Bruce Banner (The Hulk) and Black Widow also join the battle.
The attack is being led by Taskmaster and his forces which is later revealed to be a distraction. Another attack takes place in the city and Captain America is apparently killed in a Helicarrier crash.
Now there are a couple of things to note regarding this Avengers gameplay demo that Marvel showed off during Comic-Con 2019. A massive complaint from fans was that the character designs looked very awkward, especially Black Widows and Thor’s.
Of course, a lot of people were accustomed to seeing Scarlett Johansson’s face as Black Window. Fans will be glad to know that Crystal Dynamics has since made very subtle tweaks to the Avengers character designs in order to make it seem more realistic.
Take a look at some of the changes made to the character designs below:
In addition to this, the game developers have also revealed that Avengers will feature extensive character customization options as well as ability upgrades.
Marvel’s Avengers game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and is published by Square Enix for PC, Google Stadia, and PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 15, 2020. PS4 players will get early beta access to the Avengers’ multiplayer mode, which set to begin next year.
