People Purchase Nintendo Switch to Play Bethesda Games, Says Pete Hines

Bethesda's Pete Hines recently revealed in an interview that he loves the fact that most people purchase Nintendo Switch to play Bethesda games.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines recently revealed that Bethesda games are bringing new players to Nintendo Switch. The studio’s SVP of global marketing Pete Hines recently sat down with GamesIndutry to discuss a variety of subjects including company’s support for Switch.

Hines said that Bethesda Softworks will release games on every platform that is capable of running their games. Moreover, Hines is convinced that their games on Switch have played a great role in the sales of the console in the past two and a half years.

Pete Hines also said that he loves the fact that most of the people have purchased Nintendo Switch console just to play their video games like Doom and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

One of the things we discovered in talking with Nintendo, is that there’s a segment of their audience who plays other kinds of things on their platform that also likes our stuff. And there’s a segment of their audience — and it’s a healthy size — whose entry point into the platform is our title. [Nintendo] can see what is the first thing people play on a new Switch account, and when it’s a Doom or a Skyrim, they’re like: ‘Somebody got a Switch and decided to play your game before anything else

It’s clear that the partnership between Bethesda and Nintendo is benefitting both sides. This support is going to continue throughout 2019 as we have some big games to look forward to.

Upcoming Bethesda games on Switch include Doom Eternal and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Recently released Bethesda games on Nintendo’s hybrid platform include Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus and Fallout Shelter.

Things are looking great for Switch. Of course, all of the Bethesda games on Switch go through downgrades because of the hardware limitations in comparison to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

This is why the upcoming Wolfenstein: Youngblood will not arrive with a game cartridge but instead with a download code inside.

The credit for this success of Bethesda games on Switch also goes to Panic Button, who has helped the studio in optimizing most of its games for the portable platform.

In related news, Nintendo is rumored to be working on new versions of the console called Nintendo Switch Mini and Switch Pro.

According to the reports, Switch Mini is a handheld only console and will come without a dock. On the other side, Switch-Pro will come with all of the original features of the console but with upgraded hardware, display and storage space.

If the rumors are to be believed, new versions of Switch will also help Bethesda. The upgraded hardware is expected to play a great role in future Bethesda titles on Switch.

Until that happens, players can look forward to Doom Eternal on Switch, which is scheduled to release on November 22.
