New Ghost Of Tsushima Trailer Release Hinted By PEGI Rating

According to UK’s video game rating system, it is speculated that Sucker Punch Studio’s Ghost of Tsushima will have a 2019 release date with a new trailer coming soon.

Ghost of Tsushima is probably one of the most anticipated games of recent years but we haven’t seen any new trailers for a while now. According to UK’s video game rating system, it is speculated that Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima will probably have a 2019 release date with a new trailer after E3 2019.

As pointed out by Reddit user elderduddy370 in a post on GoT’s subreddit, a new Ghost of Tsushima trailer may be imminent. The United Kingdom has a very different rating system when it comes to video games, it heavily differs from the United States’ rating system. Ghost of Tsushima has the “16” rating in the UK and “Teen” rating in the US.

In the US, there is the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) which is a self-regulatory organization that assigns age and content ratings to consumer video games. ESRB has a T for Teen rating. Games that primarily contain content such as moderate amounts of violence (including small amounts of blood), mild to moderate use of language or suggestive themes, sexual content, and crude humor are giving the rating of T for Teen. The ESRB believes that these games are generally suitable for teenagers (age 13 and up). (For more information: ESRB History)

In the UK, there is the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) which is similar to America’s ESRB and assigns age and content ratings to video games. One of PEGI’s five age categories is “16”. The “16” rating is for video games that contain more realistic portrayals of violence, more frequent use of strong language, and references to alcohol, illegal drugs, and tobacco. As said above, Ghost of Tsushima has been rated for “16” and above in the UK. According to PEGI Assessment Form, games are usually rated when they are within a year of release. Since Ghost of Tsushima has been rated for “16” according to PEGI’s standards, it is likely the game’s release date is within a year.

Ghost of Tsushima has already been in development for almost five years at this point. According to PlayStation Worldwide Studios SVP Michael Denny,

“[Sucker Punch Productions] have been working on that game [Ghost of Tsushima] for a long time now. There is great [playable version of the game] already.”

So a 2019 release date for Ghost of Tsushima isn’t so far-fetched. If the game has a 2019 release date, it is also likely we will see some sort of trailer close to E3 2019.

On the other hand, it is equally as likely we will see it after E3 2019 since Sony is skipping this year’s E3 and instead is planning on doing its State of Play live stream post E3.

Ghost of Tsushima is set in feudal Japan, following the adventures of a Samurai after the Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, Japan.

“As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But, honorable tactics won’t lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting — the way of the Ghost — as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan.”

As always, since no official release date has been announced by Sucker Punch and Sony, it is best to take this information with a grain of salt. Ghost of Tsushima is a PlayStation exclusive by Sucker Punch Productions, set in medieval Japan, with no release window announced yet for the game.
