Fans have been achingly waiting for Infinity Ward to give more information regarding the long-rumored Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and its story. Even though the studio will be sharing more details regarding the new Call of Duty during E3 2019, an Infinity Ward developer revealed that ex-Naughty Dog devs helped a lot in MW4 development regarding its story.
During a Twitch live stream on May 11, Mike, an Infinity Ward developer, revealed that the former members of Naughty Dog’s development team are working with them and “helping a lot with story stuff” on their latest project.
Over the past couple of years, notable Naughty Dog developers were brought in by Infinity Ward to work on the story of the last game, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Taylor Kurosaki, narrative director at Infinity Ward, was one of those developers. Even though the game was criticized for its multiplayer, it’s singleplayer mode and the story was met positively. Infinite Warfare turned out to be one of the best stories in the Call of Duty games.
Right now, we don’t really know how deep the story is going to be in Call of Duty 2019. But one thing is for sure, if Naughty Dog is doing most of the heavy lifting regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s story, fans can rest assured that they will get a good experience out of the game.
Of course, Naughty Dog isn’t new to making games that heavily focus on story and narrative. The folks at Naughty Dog are one of the best storytellers in the gaming industry with games like the Uncharted series and The Last of Us. One can even argue that their games have revolutionized gaming as a whole and set the stage for other games.
Just quite recently, LinkedIn profiles of five former Infinity Ward developers who worked on three Modern Warfare games showed that they have returned to the studio, raising the likelihood of Infinity Ward working on a new Modern Warfare game for 2019.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Infinity Ward will be showing the new Call of Duty game at E3 2019. Another leak pointed towards Activision’s plans to show Call of Duty: Modern Warfare between May 28 and June 4, 2019. So, Whatever Infinity Ward and ex-Naughty Dog developers are working on fans will get to see it very soon.
