Resident Evil 8 Reportedly In Development, Will Launch After Resident Evil 3 Remake

Resident Evil series is one of the most successful franchises for Capcom. That is why many are expecting Capcom to be working on Resident Evil 8. Now, the studio is actively developing Resident Evil 8.

According to Twitter user EvilVR, who claims to be an insider, Resident Evil 8 is a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7. Meaning, RE8 will follow the events that unfolded in RE7.

Not only that, RE8 will be a third-person survival-horror unlike the first-person perspective of the RE7. According to the insider, Capcom made the decision due to the fans praising the RE2 Remake’s third-person perspective at E3 2018.

Resident Evil 8 will focus on finding out who is developing bioweapons like Eveline from Resident Evil 7. Furthermore, the sequel will be set on an abandoned island.

The alleged insider also claims Capcom to be very interested in Resident Evil 3 Nemesis remake. Reportedly, the RE3 remake will launch before Resident Evil 8 and the studio has no interest in remaking Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6.

There is no way to know for sure that all of this is true, so take this rumor with a grain of salt.

However, this partially falls in line with Capcom wanting to remake Resident Evil 3. According to RE2 Remake producer, RE3 remake is possible if fans want it.

Also, this isn’t the first time the studio has shown interest in remaking Resident Evil 3 Nemesis. According to producer Tsuyoshi Kanda, he would like to remake all Resident Evil games with fixed camera perspective.

It will be intersting to see in which direction Capcom takes the Resident Evil franchise. Resident Evil 7 not only brought the series back to its roots but, RE2 remake success can be partially attributed to the goodwill that RE7 brought back to the franchise.
