Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming out in just a few days but the game’s pre-orders have been available for a couple of years now. Pre-ordering the game early gave many consumers 20%-35% off on Amazon. Of course, many like to take advantage of this opportunity and save some money. But it seems the number of people who bought the game for a discounted price is very high.
It is indicated by Amazon Canada trying to create an artificial Red Dead Redemption 2 delay. Many buyers who bought Red Dead Redemption 2 copies at a discounted price received a message from Amazon Canada. The retailer informed them that their copies won’t be delivered on time, day one, as promised. The delivery would still be made but at a later date. Users were asked to make changes to their order if they would like.
Hello, We’re contacting you about your order for Red Dead Redemption 2 – Standard Edition – PlayStation 4. We recently learned that we will miss your delivery promise and apologize for the inconvenience. You’ll still receive the item and you can track the status of or make any changes to your order under Your Orders on Amazon.ca.
The message went out only to those who bought the game at a discounted price.
Reaching out to someone from Corporate resulted in the following excuses: “this is an error,” “we sent out so you can cancel your order if you want it on release date,” “we are sorry for the inconvenience.”
Amazon hasn’t shared a public statement at the time of this writing.
The Canadian Competition Bureau is now investigating the situation after many complaints. If you receive a similar email from Amazon Canada, you can too file a complaint at the Competition Bureau. It takes no more than 5-minutes to fill out the form.
This is a developing story, we will have more for your once further information comes to light.
